Homeschooling Downunder
Homeschooling is an excellent way to give our children a Christian education. When we homeschool we can disciple our children and choose curriculum that has a Biblical worldview.
However homeschooling does require that we teach academic subjects and for some of us this may be a little scary.
Before you think about your curriculum spend some time working out how you plan to homeschool for this will effect your curriculum choices.
This is a packaged approach that allows you to follow a set curriculum. Most of the planning is done for you. Children have set workbooks on traditional subjects. Most of the material is US based with some Australian content. Children's work is very self directed. You may also get support and some conferences.
Using this method you can choose your own curriculum from a variety of resources that suit your child. It allows flexibility, creativity and more opportunities to learn together as a family.
As you search the internet you will see—or have already seen—a plethora of different ways that you can homeschool; many of these styles come with a firm philosophy behind them.
Here is a quick list of styles that you might commonly find;.
